Coursebook

The coursebook What if…? B1+ is the second book of the What if…? series. The objectives of the course are to assist students to consolidate their previous knowledge and to prepare them for the following year.

The book consists of 15 units interspersed with four categories of additional sections:

  • Revision: additional vocabulary and grammar tasks for further practice and consolidation
  • Check your progress: self-assessment pages, one for the first nine units of the coursebook and one for the last six
  • More practice: includes texts and reading comprehension tasks for additional practice in dealing with vocabulary that has not been met in the coursebook
  • Waves of music: 8 music pages which cover types of music from classical through to Hip Hop and Techno. These sections are accompanied by reading texts and tasks which encourage students to think about what they have read and understand it even without knowing all the words.

Each unit consists of:

  • Viewed from different sides: a warm-up section that leads students into the general topic.
  • Reading between the lines: texts with different, or even contradictory, ideas on current issues, different types of reading comprehension tasks
  • Language awareness: presentation of Grammar and grammar tasks, vocabulary and use of English tasks
  • Listening: variety of listening task formats
  • Writing: interesting topics, clear guidance and preparation with plans, vocabulary and key expressions
  • Having a say (speaking): variety of prompts and task types that encourage students to communicate and express their own views in English, inside and outside the classroom.
