The New Leaders Intermediate coursebook was designed taking into consideration the special characteristics of the teenage students to whom it is addressed. The series aims to take students’ English skills and knowledge to intermediate level. The book consists of 25 units which are divided into five themed sections:

  • Lifestyles: students can contrast different ways of life
  • Helping others: this section starts with Doctors without Borders and includes other impressive stories
  • Art and Culture: this section brings together mouthpainters, musicians and writers, and includes UNESCO
  • The world around us: this section focuses on protection of the environment, as well as travel and natural disasters
  • A better future: this section looks at Amnesty International, the Internet, and areas where the world can improve

The key features of the book are the practice in all skills, the innovative reading texts of appropriate length, the clear and succinct presentation of grammar, the graded vocabulary and grammar tasks, the carefully designed Speaking and Writing tasks which lay the groundwork for FCE level, the cross-curricular pages and the projects.
